Your account is protected at every step.
Signing in takes more than a password, moving money takes a second PIN, and every action our own staff take on your profile is recorded. This page explains exactly how each layer works.
Noticed something on your account that you do not recognise? Freeze your card in online banking, then contact us and we will look into it with you.
Up to three checks happen before anyone can see your account.
Every sign in asks for your password and then your 6-digit PIN. You can add an email code as a third step in Settings.
Password
At least 8 characters, chosen by you when you open your account. You can change it in Settings at any time.
6-digit sign in PIN
We ask for it after your password. After five wrong PINs your profile locks itself, and only our team can unlock it.
Email code
Turn it on in Settings and we email you a one-time code each time you sign in. Each code works for 10 minutes.
Forgotten PIN
Ask for a temporary PIN on the sign in page. We email it to you, and it stops working after 15 minutes.
Moving money always needs a second PIN that only you know.
Your 4-digit transaction PIN is separate from your sign in PIN. Even someone who knows your password cannot move money without it.
-
Asked for on every paymentEach transfer, bill payment, currency exchange, card top-up, and loan payment needs your transaction PIN before it goes through.
-
Paused after five wrong triesPayments stop for 15 minutes, which makes guessing the PIN pointless.
-
A daily limit on what can leaveThere is a cap on how much can be sent from your accounts each day, and a lower one until we verify your identity. Your dashboard shows what is left for today.
-
A second look at outside paymentsPayments leaving the bank are reviewed by our team before they complete.
Your devices
Settings lists every device signed in to your profile, and you can sign any of them out with one click.
Change alerts
We email you whenever your password, PIN or sign in settings change.
Checked details
Changes to your name, email, phone, address or date of birth are reviewed by our team first.
Frozen cards
You can freeze a card yourself in online banking the moment something feels wrong.

Protecting your account also means watching what our own team does. Staff sign in with their own password and PIN, and the system keeps a record of every action they take.
-
Every staff action is recordedApprovals, adjustments and profile changes are logged with the staff member's name and the reason they gave.
-
Identity checks by a personWhen you upload your ID and a selfie, a member of our team compares them with the details on your profile.
-
Documents kept privateYour ID photos and check images are stored away from the public website and only shown to staff who review them.
A few simple habits will keep your account safe.
Keep your PINs to yourself
We will never ask for your password, sign in PIN or transaction PIN by phone, email or chat. Anyone who asks is not us.
Check the address bar
Sign in only on our own website. If a link in a message takes you somewhere that looks slightly different, close it.
Tell us straight away
If something looks wrong, write to info@silvermerebank.com or open a support thread in online banking.
Open an account and set up your security as you go.
You choose your password and both PINs while you sign up, and it takes a few minutes.
